A New Light

I had a moment today. A moment that needs to be shared! My heart is full and has been touched! Service has taken on a whole other meaning for me. There are two parts of service. The giver and then the receiver. You can not give service if someone is not willing to receive it. Service comes in so many different forms. Through time, listening, words, actions, money, etc. But all that is no good if the person receiving the service is not willing to accept it! I haven't really known that part of service. The "accepting" part. I have experienced the giving but not the accepting. I am not just talking about the accepting of a plate of cookies but the full on accepting of letting someone into your comfortable zone where not a lot of people go and full on serve you! It is so hard to let people in ESPECIALLY when you are struggling. We want to keep it to ourselves and deal with it. No one needs to know we are suffering.... Why do we think this way? Why is it so hard to let people in? You don't want people to see your flaws because you don't know what they are going to do with it once you have let them in. I have a whole new outlook on serving! I watched someone stick her hand into another persons toilet and scrub it. She was using her hands to serve. She was using her hands to do what the Savior would do. I took a step back and asked myself would I do that? I don't even clean my very own toilets like that let alone someone else's! I love watching people let go of everything and give them self to others. I am grateful to be able to learn from other people. Each and EVERYONE of us have our own struggles that we go through. We all experience them at different times. They are all different but yet have similarities. Life is dang hard and there are some dang hard things we have to deal with. We find our inner selves when we deal with these things. We lose judgement for others and we gain humility when we suffer. But most important we find our Savior. We learn how to embrace and apply the atonement. We learn! We learn so much! Remember being oblivious to stuff will never get you anywhere! Accept, process, and heal!
